1 - This competition is open to Western Australian based companies and/or self employed persons whose primary source of income is derived from the business of printing and/or associated production. The competition is open to both members and non-members of Printing
Industries Association.
2 - All entries must have been completed between 11th July 2008 and 17th July 2009. Entries to be original print run only. All entries must have been wholly printed in Western Australia.
All finishing entries must have been wholly completed from printing stage to finished product in Western Australia.
3 - If any entry is the result of more than one company’s effort (i.e. Typesetting, binding, graphic reproduction, etc.), all information is to be listed where shown in the enclosed entry form.
All ancillary work undertaken outside of Western Australia must be identified on the entry form. All entries are to be accompanied by the official entry form, which includes the production details. The form must be accurately completed with all relevant details. If the production details are not accurately completed it may result in the non-acceptance of the entry.
4 - Entrants should endeavour to recognise all contributing sources on the “Production Details” form. This form will be displayed with the entry after judging. No identification should appear on the entry. The PICA Committee will assign the entry number. To recognise all contributing sources, including the customer, involved in the production of award winning entries, Gold, Silver and Bronze award Recognition Certificates may be purchased from Printing Industries Association for an additional cost.
5 - At least one printed copy must be submitted for each Category entered.
6 - Entries must be delivered to the Printing Industries Association Offices, 111-113 Burswood Road, Victoria Park prior to 5:00pm, Friday 7th July 2009. The relevant fee must accompany all entries. Printing Industries Association members $25.00, Non members $66.00 (inclusive of GST). Cheques should be made out to the Printing Industries Association (WA) - PICA account.
7 - All entries must be part of an invoiced production run.
8 - All entries will be retained by the PICA Committee (if so requested on the Production Details sheet) for two weeks following the dinner/awards evening and may be claimed in this period. Entries not claimed in this period will become the property of the PICA Committee who may destroy them. If it is not indicated that the entry is to be returned, it may be disposed of immediately following the dinner/awards evening.
9 - Entrants are responsible for the dispatch and return of all articles at their expense. Although normal care will be taken, no responsibility will be accepted for damage to or loss of any entry or part thereof, either in transit or whilst in the possession of the Printing Industries Association. Special effort for the security of entries will be taken on the night.
10 - Awards will be judged by independent judges. Judging of printing entries will be judged on the printing only, except in Categories 16 & 17, which will be judged on all aspects of production. All entries must have been wholly produced in Western Australia. Other Categories will be judged on their specialty area only and these specialty areas must have been produced wholly in Western Australia.
11 - The Committee’s decision will be final.
12 - Winners of the awards will be announced and awards presented at the Printing Industries Craftsmanship Awards Dinner to be held on Saturday, 22nd August 2009.
13 - No award will be made for a category if, in the opinion of the Judges the entries in that category do not warrant an award.
14 - If in the opinion of the Committee an entry should be reclassified, the entrant will be advised and may then elect to continue or withdraw. If the latter, the entry fee will be refunded.
15 - Entrants may use the PICA title and logo in their advertising and printed material that is produced in Western Australia.
16 - If two companies enter the same job in the same category and an award is given, the converter of the category i.e. Designer, Embellisher or Finisher in the Design, Embellishment and Finishing Categories and the Printer in the Printing Categories will receive the award.
